Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Queer
Asian Spirit (QAS) E-Zine!
The QAS E-Zine is a groundbreaking online
publication in which queer people of Asian descent from around the world can write
about – or otherwise share – their experiences of religion and spirituality.
Although writings by queer Asian people of
faith have existed since at least the mid-1990s, most of these works have been
limited to book chapters in anthologies, or articles published in academic
We founded the QAS E-Zine because we want
to make the global voices of queer Asian people of faith accessible to a much
wider audience – in fact, to anyone with a computer and an internet connection.
We want to include the wisdom, insights, and knowledge of a wide range of queer
Asian people of faith, particularly those who may not have had the opportunity
to be heard.
The ten contributors to this first issue
have incredibly diverse backgrounds.
They live in a variety of countries, including Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and the United States. They self-identify with a broad range of
sexualities and gender identities. And
they come from a wide range of religious traditions, including Buddhism,
Christianity, and Islam.
We hope that you will enjoy reading this
issue as much as we have enjoyed putting it together. If you are interested in contributing to a
future issue of the QAS E-Zine, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
