Welcome

to the Queer Asian Spirit (QAS) website, a welcoming forum to share queer wisdom, knowledges, experiences, communities, religiosities, theologies and spiritualities from men, women and transpeople of Asian and Pacific Islander descent of different faiths from around the globe! This website is a collection of resources for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, pansexual, asexual, queer and questioning (LGBTIPAQ) people of Asian Pacific Islander (API) descent who are interested in spiritual and religious issues.

Queer

Queer denotes “defiance, celebration and refusal,” and applauds the “messiness of identity” (Giffney 2009) in persons, structures and belief systems. It is a “critique without  an essence” (Cheng 2012) which embraces a broad range of voices that recognize the value inherent in diversity and plurality, including people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, pansexual, asexual, queer and questioning.

Asian

Men, women and transpersons of Asian descent who live in and outside Asian nations.

Spirit

A recognition of the movements of the Divine and the Transcendent, and of the unquenchable power and passion overflowing in each human person.
