QAS practices a policy of ongoing submissions. Your contributions will be considered for publication in the June and December
issues of each year.

QAS E-Zine

is an online magazine published semi-annually (June and December) that is dedicated to the sharing of queer knowledges, experiences, communities, religiosities, theologies and spiritualities from lesbian, gay, bisexal, transgender, intersex, pansexual, asexual, queer and questioning (LGBTIPAQ) people of Asian Pacific Islander (API) descent of diverse  faiths from around the globe. In an effort to respect and recognize the diversity of wisdom among LGBTIPAQ persons, we welcome a wide range of submissions, including:

  • Testimonies

How to Submit

  • We ask that you email submissions to us at ezine@queerasianspirit.org.
  • In general, please submit documents to us in MS-Word format. Include a brief bio with your submission. For more details about our submission requirements, please see below.
  • We will do our best to get back to you promptly, but do take note that this is a volunteer-run project.

Submission Requirements

  • Written submissions are to be in in MS-Word (doc, rtf or docx) format. Brevity is preferred for all written submissions except for scholarly essays. For testimonies, poems, short essays, interviews and sermons/homilies, please include a one- or two-line summary.
  • Scholarly essays should be around 4000-5000 words (including titles and notes), and double-spaced.. Any citation style is acceptable, as long as it is consistent throughout the essay. Do include a brief bio (see below*) and an abstract of your work (150 words or less).
  • Short essays should typically be between 1000-2000 words (including titles and notes).
  • Photo submissions can either be in JPG or PNG formats. Please include (a) short description(s) and be conscious of the file size.
  • Video clips should be in M4V, MPG, MOV, WMV, AVI formats. Please include (a) short description(s) and be conscious of the file size.
  • Combination submissions, e.g. artwork + poem, photo + testimony, etc., are welcome, insofar as they relate to each other.
  • For all submissions, please include a *brief bio (50-70 words or less) with your name/preferred pseudonym, affiliation, country of origin, and email address. Please be aware that those who are interested in your work will have the opportunity to contact you directly based on the email address that you supply to us.
  • We accept submissions in various languages.
  • Multiple submissions are accepted, but only one work from one author will be featured in each issue. The other submissions will be considered for other issues.
  • The deadline for the June issue is April 30, and October 30 for the December issue.

Terms of Consent and Disclaimer

By submitting a work to Queer Asian Spirit, you grant us a revocable, royalty-free license to post such work on our website.  You warrant that such work complies with all applicable laws, including intellectual property laws, and you agree to hold us harmless for any damages that may result from such submission.  We reserve the right to refuse to post any submitted work, and/or to subsequently remove such post, for any or no reason whatsoever.
